THE UPDF 5th Division intelligence officers have arrested the regional coordinator of Saracen, a private security firm, for allegedly masquerading as a UPDF captain. Joel Kamalie, alias Super Star, was allegedly arrested with a pistol loaded with 15 bullets in a night club in Lira district on Thursday.

In a statement on Friday, the division’s spokesman, Capt. Deo Akiiki, said Kamalie fought with the UPDF officers who had been tracking him for over a month.

Akiiki said Kamalie would be charged in the Court Martial because he was wearing a UPDF T-shirt, adding that many residents had complained about his outrageous behaviour.

“Kamalie was at one time reported to the Police for attempted rape. At the time of arrest, he was supposed to appear before court to answer the assault case,” Akiiki said.

During the same operation, Akiiki said a former Amuka militia, who deserted during the operations against the Lord’s Resistance Army rebels, was arrested in Aduku, Apac district.

Pte. Moses Okello was arrested with a gun loaded with 28 bullets.
