Court Martial Lawyer – Court-martial against reservist delayed
A court martial against a Fort Leonard Wood soldier accused of killing another soldier’s wife has been delayed.
According to a news release, proceedings against Spc. Jermaine Johnson are now expected to go forward June 29. They had been scheduled for May 18.
Johnson is accused of murdering 23-year-old Myria Silva, then dumping her body in a vacant Webster County home.
The charges — filed under the Uniform Code of Military Justice — include premeditated murder, sodomy, assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, adultery, intent to deceive or provide false statements, kidnapping and obstructing justice.
If convicted, Johnson could receive life in prison without parole.
The body of Silva, the mother of two children, was found in a house near Marshfield on Oct. 16.
Johnson, 26, was taken into custody several days later.
An Army reservist, Johnson is a member of the 7223 Medical Support Detachment 10 from Mobile.
He was serving as a health care specialist at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital.
