Court Martial Attorney – Cadet’s court-martial scheduled for Tuesday

A court martial for a cadet convenes at the Air Force Academy at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Senior Cadet Sean T. Callahan has been accused of entering the room of a female cadent in August 2007 and sexually assaulting her.

Callahan is charged with dereliction of duty for underage drinking, unlawful entry of the alleged victim’s dormitory room, and rape.

On Oct. 2, Air Force authorities held an “Article 32″ evidence hearing and ruled there was enough evidence to move the case forward to a court-martial. At that hearing, the victim in the case testified she didn’t want her classmate prosecuted for the alleged assault. She described him as a “nice guy.”

If the cadet is found guilty of the allegations, he faces a maximum punishment of dismissal from the Air Force, life in prison, and total forfeiture of pay and allowances.
